Curiosity... why cats have 9 lives

I was having a discussion with friends the other day and decided to put the question out in the open.

When we Caucasians imitate Asian people, we stretch out the edges of our eyelids to make our eyes squinty. When Asians imitate Caucasians, do they push those corners in or at least open their eyes wider?

Hmmm, I don't have any personal experience with it, but I'm pretty sure that they do, or used to, call Caucasians round-eyes.

I'm pretty sure I can ask Mars for a picture of one of our Asian elder's holding his eyes open to "look American". It was by far one of the funnier events of my time in Sydney.

Oooo! Oooo! I know why cats have 9 lives. Curiosity killed the cat. Cats are curious. Therefore, cats would die far too quickly if they only had one life to be curious with. Cats deserve lots of chances...

Chillygator's right, I think. My dad had a business meeting with some people once, including a foreign gentleman who brought his son with him. At one point, my dad looked over to see the kid, with finger and thumbs stretching his eyes to make them taller, trying to catch his dad's attention. His dad looked embarrassed and told him to stop.

I've felt a little better about when American kids do that, ever since then.
